Iggy is a Star!

So I have been extremely busy lately. Thank God for all the people in my life who help me. I used to think that things could only be done right, if done by myself. How arrogant is that! I have come to find, over the years that we all need help, and two hands is better than one. I guess it was just my selfish nature back then getting the best of me. I have had so much help with the Iggy the Iguana book. From editing, to designing, to fixing pictures, business matters, promoting...I couldn't do this all on my own. Iggy has now become something I am so proud of, but it is only that good because of the help I have so graciously gotten from others.

The past month has been full of changes for this project. The development has just taken off. I gave another book presentation a few days ago to 115 fourth graders. The response was awesome! The kids were so excited about the book. Once they saw the illustrations they were sold! My illustrator is so talented! She is able to artistically capture the characters just by my written description of what they look like in my head. They are alive now!

I was actually bombarded by the kids afterward for autographs. When I say bombarded, I literally had to ask them to move back because they were quishing me in between the table. It was so fun! I am starting to get really good at my signature. I would have never pictured this...not in a million years.

The funny thing is that I have always wanted to be a public speaker and give inspirational, psychological presentations about books that I wanted to write. There was one problem though. I have horrible stage fright. I have given presentations for years in school, and every time...it never fails, I break out in hives, can barely get out the right words, and I am a nervous wreck. I pretty much gave up on my desire to be a public speaker a few years ago, along with being an actress! Ha! But it is different when I present to the kids about Iggy. I love it!

I am starting to brainstorm ideas for the next book. The response to this iguana has been way bigger than I expected. Iggy merchandise is going to have to come out... and soon! I can't wait to do a fall book tour and have the book in my hand! The cover should be ready any day now!
