Tomball has always been known for supporting local persons in the community. The excitement that stirred last weekend with the Tomball Little League and Chick-Fil-A as a partnered supporter helped make Iggy's Sequel Launch Party a Huge Success! Not only did these organization "step up to the plate," literally, to support Iggy and his efforts to get parents and children excited about literacy, but the whole city declared September 19th as Iggy the Iguana Day! Mayor Fagon of Tomball, Texas was so kind to present the proclamation at the Town Counsel Meeting.

If the pre-events for Tomball (Texas) with Chick-Fil-A and Parent's Night weren't enough, the response on Saturday at the Main Event was so heart touching as some of Iggy's Biggest Fans came out to show their support for Iggy's Sequel, Summer League. The parent involvement with their children has gotten Iggy's Fans not only interested in reading his Series, but they are now sharing their ideas with me and writing their own stories too!

Iggy's "Summer League" Launch Party was also the kick off to the New Publishing Project for LongTale Publishing: Short Stories Written By Kids For Kids. Many children writers took home entry forms!

Children and parents also took away Prizes and Goodies! 10% of all Iggy Merchandise Sales from the Event went back to the Tomball Little League Association to show our appreciation for their unlimited support!

The best part about the whole weekend was definitely getting to hang out with the kids. We had baseball players, girls, boys, adults, teachers, parents, grandparent ... all ages getting excited about Summer League. Why were they excited? Their city was actually mentioned in the book! Iggy played his District Tournament against the Lufkin Lizards on Tomball Ball Field!

Getting to know my readers is the most important part for me and Iggy as this lizard moves to a new level in 2010. Iggy will soon become the spokes lizard for LongTale Publishing's New Campaign to support Literacy~Creativity~Learning for Children while promoting Parent Involvement. That is the key to conquering illiteracy, parents getting their children excited to read and be creative and learn all over again!

Thank you to EVERYONE who came out to the Tomball Little League Event! We had such a great time! Thank you to the Tomball Little League Association who hosted the event and to Mayor Fagon of Tomball for naming September 19th as "Iggy the Iguana Day." A big thanks goes out the the Chick-Fil-A cow and the team at Chick-Fil-A for helping host this event in Tomball. The community support inside your city made all of this possible. We can't wait to participate in more local events in the area. Thank you to Asher Gray Photography for all of the great pictures from the event!
